Cromer is a suburb located in northern Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The suburb sits 20 kilometers northeast of the Sydney central business district. Cromer also operates within the Northern Beaches Council’s local government area. Suburbs surrounding Cromer are Ingleside, Oxford Falls, Wheeler Heights, Narraweena, Collaroy Plateau, Collaroy, and Dee Why.
According to the 2016 census, Cromer has over 7,592 population in 2016.
Cromer’s name was after the seaside town in Norfolk, England — Cromer. During the early years, the suburb was known and called Dee Why West but it was later renamed after Dee Why Golf Links was controlled by the Cromer Country Club. The club applied to change the suburbs name to Cromer and was later on granted.
In September 1959, Cromer Post Office opened but closed in 1992.
One of the best places to visit in Cromer is Dee Why West Recreation Reserve where you can do bush walking, trail bike riding, and mountain bike riding.
