Balgowlah is a suburb located in northern Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It sits 12 kilometers northeast of the central business district within the Northern Beaches Council’s local government area. Suburbs surrounding Balgowlah are Manly Vale, Balgowlah Heights, Seaforth, Clontarf, Fairlight, and North Balgowlah.
The suburb has 7,961 population according to the 2016 census.
It was believed that the name Balgowlah (or Bulgowlah) came from an Aboriginal name for "North Harbour". During the European Settlement, the suburb was known as Little Manly.
In July 2009, the Stockland Balgowlah opened. But was closed in 2017 after the Totem Center, where it is located, was demolished.
One of the famous picnic spots in Balgowlah is the North Harbour Reserve on Condamine Street. Similarly, Harvey Norman and Bunnings Warehouse are located on the same street. There are also 62 more retails on Condamine Street including Coles and Fitness First.
