Allambie Heights is a suburb of Northern Sydney, in the local government area of Northern Beaches Council, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located 17.5 kilometers northeast of the Sydney CBD.
The Geographical Names Board of New South Wales has recognized Allambie Heights, which is a part of the Northern Beaches district, as an "Urban Place."
The Aboriginal term Allambie means "peaceful place." Numerous streets in Allambie Heights reflect the names of significant World War II allied political figures and battles, especially those in which Australian troops participated.
In 1918, a property with that name was divided and put up for auction. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, the suburb was developed.
Numerous parks can be found in Allambie Heights. Manly Dam Reserve, which serves as the habitat for a variety of flora and animals, borders it on the south. Additionally, the region is home to a number of Australian Aboriginal rock carvings, with the group in Gumbooya Reserve serving as one of the best examples. The western boundary is defined by Garigal National Park.
Allenby Park, which has a few fraction rainforest sections and is divided by little creeks and waterfalls, borders Allambie Heights to the north.
Three schools are located in Allambie Heights. Allambie Heights Public School, a co-educational primary school, is one of them. Arranounbai School was formed in 2000 by the merger of two North Shore schools, Allambie School and Manly/Warringah School. In addition, The Beach School, a School for Special Purposes, serves students in grades 7 to 12 who exhibit challenging and/or disruptive behaviors, mental health issues, and autism.
